William Keefe Obituary

NEWBURYPORT - William V. Keefe, 94, resident of Newburyport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Bill was born on February 8, 1928 in Cambridge to Pauline and Thomas Keefe. He attended Cambridge High School and later resided in Medford. Bill proudly served seven years in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He then worked for Ryerson Steel for thirty-five years. Bill spent the last twenty-five years living between Shapleigh, ME and Deerfield Beach, FL.

He enjoyed driving cross country and watching every Red Sox game. Bill will be remembered as an excellent card player and for his love of good food. “If you live in this country, you gotta eat!” Bill's disposition was remarkable. He always maintained an incredible attitude, even when faced with great adversity. He was always joyful, kind, happy, giving and caring to all he came in contact with.

Bill's greatest joy in life was his family. His time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was always made special with his songs, jokes, games and fun activities. Bill was the most loving Papa and in return he was truly loved and endeared by all.

Bill is survived by his wife Elizabeth Coleman Jutras Keefe, children Brian Keefe and wife Paula of Amesbury, David Keefe and wife Patricia of Medford and Karen Hernandez and husband Eric of California; grandchildren Brianne, Joel, Tara, Chuckie, Jennifer, Ryan, Dane, Eric and Ariana; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings Kay Wiley of California and Mary Gott of California. He is predeceased by his first wife Patricia Keefe and siblings Harold Keefe, Nadi Keefe, James Keefe and Alan O'Keefe.
