Walter Griffin, Jr., 65 of Haverhill, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Cherished husband of Kim (Kennedy) Griffin and loving father of Luca Franceschino.
He was pre-deceased by his father, Walter Griffin, Sr and his mother, Joan (Lanzi) Griffin. He also leaves behind his brothers, Louis Griffin and his wife Karin of Stoneham, MA. and James Griffin and his wife Patricia of Winthrop, MA., four nephews, two great nephews and one great niece, an Aunt and Uncle, many loving cousins, and close loyal friends.
Walter grew up in the North End of Boston and Winthrop, MA. He graduated from Winthrop High School, Class of 1978 and attended Northeastern University for two years, where he played intramural Hockey.
He then worked as a truck driver for Emery Freight, which eventually became UPS Freight, in Chelsea, MA. He retired from UPS in November of 2022. He also worked for the TD Garden in Boston for over 25 years as a loader for the concerts and shows.
He was a proud member of the Teamsters, Local 25 for over 40 years and a member of the Winthrop Elks.
Walter loved spending time with his family, especially at the family July 4th party. He loved his day trips and family vacations with his wife and son to Hawaii, Florida, Aruba and especially his yearly trips to Las Vegas. He was a sports enthusiast and loved routing on his Boston sports teams, especially the Bruins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Words of Remembrance will begin at 4:00 PM. Private family interment will be held in Atkinson Cemetery, Atkinson, NH. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift in Walter's name to the American Diabetes Association.
