SALEM - Virginia Marie Charette, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Haverhill, MA.
She was born in Peabody, MA on January 19, 1944, to the late Carlton and Marion (Hurlburt) Porter. She graduated in 1962 from Lynn English High School, Lynn, MA. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Roland J. Charette. She is survived by her sister Carlene Porter-Holmes, and her brother Wilder Porter. As well as her 8 children, Daphne Charette, Heather Bell and her husband Steven, Fern Morse and her husband Jeffrey, Creighton Charette and his wife Denise, Jason Charette, Laurel Charette and her husband Scott Yaffe, Iris Rice, and Lily O'Neill and her husband William. As well as 18 grandchildren, Cameron Cataldo, Noah and Isabella Blake, Jennifer Quinn and her husband Brendan, Jonathan Morse and his husband Ryan Carr, Jacqueline Morse and her fiancé Kevin Anderson, Danae Gitschier, Jake Doane, Ivy and Adam Charette, Nicolai, Issac and Estelle Yaffe, Destiny Mead and her husband Sam, Jaxon and Abel Rice, and Cailees and Trent O'Neill. Along with 5 greatgrandchildren Ava & Cameron Jr. Cataldo, Roston Gitschier, and Dax and Xander Doane. Virginia was a resident of Salem, MA, for 36 years.
She had a lifetime love of horses, which she and Roland owned many of over the years. Their thoroughbred horses raced at many of the well-known tracks on the east coast. She enjoyed gardening, and participated in community gardens, swimming, long walks, bird watching, ceremics, was an avid reader, and more recently discovered she enjoyed painting.
