Thomas ‘Tom’ Forrestall Obituary

Thomas ‘Tom’ Forrestall, a beloved husband, father, Papa Tom, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 18, 1951, to Irene and Edward Forrestall of Greenfield, MA, Tom made his home in Bradford, MA, where he built a life full of love, laughter, and deep connections after meeting the love of his life, Dottie Heffernan. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with unwavering love and devotion, sharing nearly five decades of marriage and celebrating the 50th anniversary of their first date just this past January.

He was a proud graduate of St. Anselm College, where he not only pursued academics but also discovered his lifelong affection for Nadeau’s steak and cheese subs. That craving turned into a family tradition, with road trips to Manchester, NH, becoming cherished memories, especially when shared with Dottie and their children. Though Nadeau’s held a special place in his heart, Ari’s Pizza and Subs in Bradford became another favorite. A thick chocolate shake from Ari’s was his go-to treat, and even in his final days, it brought him comfort - thanks to Ari, who ensured Tom was well cared for.

Family was Tom’s greatest pride and joy. He was a deeply devoted father who never missed a game, a swim meet, or a milestone. After retiring from a 20-year career at the IRS, he found immeasurable joy in being Papa Tom. Whether offering a calming hug, a warm snuggle, or simply being present, Papa Tom was a safe haven for Shea, Aubrey, Dylan, Chase, Taylor, and Easton. Even the family pets found comfort in his gentle presence.

Tom also had a passion for traveling, especially when it meant making memories with his family. He cherished exploring new places with the ones he loved most, always finding joy in the journey and the time spent together. When not traveling, you could often find him cheering on his favorite teams: Boston sports teams and UMaine Hockey. Game days brought him great excitement and pride, and he loved sharing that passion with those around him.

He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 49 years, Dottie; his children: Kellie Beebee and her husband Wes, Tracy St. Onge and her husband Bryan, Brian Forrestall and his wife Amanda, and Scott Forrestall and his partner Ivette Ramos. Tom also leaves behind his loving sister Patty Elie and her husband Wayne; Dottie’s seven siblings and their spouses; and many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Tom.

He held a special place in his heart for Rachel Holland and her fiancé Stephen Condit; Edson Hilaire, his wife Jessica, and their children Talia and Attila; and many friends who truly became family.

Tom is predeceased by his parents, Irene and Edward; his in-laws, John and Virginia Heffernan; his brother Robert Forrestall; sister-in-law Mary Jo Heffernan; niece Katherine Forrestall; and his beloved grand dog, Sedona.
