GROVELAND - Suzanne Riva, 82, of Groveland, MA, passed away peacefully at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, on April 9, surrounded by her loving family.
Suzanne worked for over 15 years as a receptionist at the M&M Trucking Company. She was a member of the Teamsters Local 25. She continued to support her extended union family by taking a position in billing at the Teamsters Local 25 Credit Union, where she remained employed until her retirement.
When her children were young, Suzanne loved spending summer days with her family at Revere beach. She also enjoyed entertaining holiday parties and family gatherings at her home in Chelsea. Friends and family would continue to be welcome after she and Angelo settled into their Groveland home in 2005.
A self-taught ceramist, she passed her love of ceramics onto others by teaching from within her Chelsea home. In 1976 Suzanne was awarded the title of Artist of the Year by The New England Professional Ceramics Society.
Additionally, Suzanne enjoyed painting and baking chocolate fudge. She and Angelo frequented her favorite restaurant Butch’s Uptown where she would share her fudge with all her favorites.
Suzanne is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Angelo Riva, children Michael Riva and his wife Marie of Sebring, FL, Matthew Riva and his significant other Nicole Conroy of Haverhill. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Michele Riva. Luis Tejada of Chelsea has always been a close family friend and was “like a son.”
Suzanne will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Final Rites will be offered at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. For guestbook, visit www.driscollcares.com
