Stavroula Moularas Obituary

NORTH ANDOVER – Proverbs 31: 28 -29. “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.’”

On July 20, 2021, in the arms of her loving family, Stavroula “Voula” Moularas, 86, of North Andover (previously of Haverhill, MA and East Hampstead, NH) was called home by God, where she could rest in peace and be with her loving husband who passed away 79 days ago.

Stavroula was born in the northwest village of Prosilio Ioanninon, Greece. She was the daughter of the late Konstantinos and Eleni (Masoura) Keriazis.  Stavroula met, got engaged and married her beloved husband Demetri all in two weeks. Demetri had returned back to Greece from America to find a bride. They agreed to meet at a café to see if they liked each other, Demetri not knowing that Stavroula’s mother was across the street chaperoning the entire time. They fell in love and were blessed to be happily married on August 16, 1959 for over 61 years and had 2 daughters, Eleni Moularas (Bittarelli) and Christina (Moularas) Lemonias, who adored her.

They both returned to Haverhill on November 13, 1959. She initially worked at Lincoln Shoes and then Western Electric in 1968. In 1983, Stavroula opened Ellas Pizza in Plaistow, NH and subsequently retired in April 1988. Stavroula was an active member of Holy Apostles Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church. She and Demetri were devoted to their faith and participated in countless church activities especially preparing for the church’s annual festival.

Stavroula’s greatest job and love was caring for her children and grandchildren. Her favorite saying to her grandchildren was “you are my life.” She would show up with trays of food and loaves of “Yiayia’s bread.” Her homemade spanakopita was out of this world. Stavroula will always be known for her sense of humor, laugh and endless energy.

Stavroula leaves behind her daughters Eleni Moularas (Bittarelli) and Christina Lemonias and her husband Peter Lemonias; her six grandchildren Demetri Lemonias and his fiancé Nicole Madden, Alexander Lemonias, Christos Lemonias, Arianna Lemonias, Alexia Bittarelli and Christianna Bittarelli.  She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Stavroula was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her sisters Athina Ntaflou, Viryinia Koutlas, her twin brother Christoforos Keriazis and her son in-law Christian Bittarelli.

The family would like to thank Leigh Martinez and Ymanee Lopez who were Stavroula’s primary loving caregivers for the past three years. There is no way we could have kept her home without them.  Thank you!
