HAVERHILL - Rose M. Boland, 94, passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston on August 14, 2024. She was born on December 23, 1929 to Raymond and Angelina Scalia. She spent her childhood in Waltham, MA, graduated from Waltham High School, and began her adulthood working for H.P. Hood.
While vacationing with friends at Hampton Beach, she met her knight in shining armor, James P. Boland. They married and settled in Bradford, MA where they raised their five children surrounded by the extended Boland family.
Rose was a woman of great faith, who found comfort and friendship through her involvement with Sacred Hearts Parish, especially her work at the food pantry and with the Catholic Daughters.
Rose was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Richard and Angelo, her sister, Franny, and her beloved husband of 69 years, Jim.
She is survived by her children, Jim (Cheryl), Marianne (Chris) Howard, Andrea (Jim) Marmo, Matt (Cristina), and Bob (Shelby); nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and her very dear and devoted friends, Heather Langlois and Marilyn Sweeney.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 19, in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 11:00 AM. Please meet directly at the church. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Haverhill. In honor of Rose, please reach out to an old friend, or seek to make a new one.
