Ronald 'Ron' W. Smith

Ronald 'Ron' W. Smith, age 77, of Salem, NH, passed away on May 19, 2025, at Lawrence General Hospital with family by his side. Born on September 26, 1947, in Lawrence, MA, he was the beloved son of the late Douglas and Lena (Denault) Smith. Ron was predeceased by his older brother, Donald Smith Sr., and his wife Kathleen Smith as well as many others. He is survived by his longtime partner of over twenty years, Don Daigle, his sister, Susan Buonanno, and her partner and Ron’s long-time friend of over 50 years, John Roeger; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Gail Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Ron and his nieces would dance and sing to “Man, I Feel Like A Woman”, creating memories to last a lifetime. Ron was a graduate of Lawrence High School, where he made many lifelong friends. He went on to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role in which he truly thrived. Ron had a natural gift for caregiving. His compassion and calm presence were a comfort to those around him. Outside of work, Ron embraced life to the fullest. Ron’s love for animals was truly remarkable. He loved spending time with his family, especially during holidays at his sister’s house. He found happiness in nature — in the peace of the ocean and the quiet of the mountains.
