HAVERHILL - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Raymond Plante, Jr., who was born on May 4, 1964, and passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025, surrounded by love. Rob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed.
He shared 40 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Mary. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, support, and cherished memories. He deeply loved his children, Taylor Hein (Plante) and Dylan Plante, and took immense pride in the individuals they became. He was thrilled to welcome his son-in-law, Scot Hein, into the family and was over the moon at the arrival of his grandson, Robert (Robby), who was named after him. Becoming a Grampy was one of Rob’s greatest blessings. Watching Robby grow, learn and play filled his heart with immense joy. He eagerly awaited the arrival of his granddaughter, Holly, who is due in July. Rob also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Maggie, and grand-dog, Moose.
The son of Kathleen and Robert Plante, Sr., Rob grew up in a home filled with love, support, and strength. He cherished his siblings, David Plante and his wife, Sharon, and Brenda Ryan and her husband, Tim. He adored his nieces, Shannon, Jillian, and Sydney. Rob also shared a close bond with his brothers-in-law: Paul Consoli and his husband, Brian; Andrew Consoli and his wife, Sheilah; Ben Consoli and his husband, Al; and the late Robert Consoli. He also treasured his nieces and nephews by marriage, Andrew and his wife, Taylor, and Samantha and her husband, Rick, along with their children, Charlotte and Luke. Family meant everything to Rob, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Rob was a respected home inspector for over 40 years, working alongside with his brother-in-law, Andy, at ABC Home Inspection. Rob found true happiness in the outdoors, he cherished his time at the camp in East Orange, VT, where he made lasting memories with his children, brother-in-law Tim, and close friends—shooting guns, off-roading in his Jeep, getting stuck in the mud, sipping Miller Lite, and enjoying bonfires. He also treasured his lake house on Lovell Lake, where he loved kayaking, fishing, ice fishing, and relaxing with a cup of Peet’s Major Dickason’s coffee. As the best pontoon captain, he loved cruising the lake with his family and dogs, often visiting his brother-in-law Andy and Sheilah across the water.
Rob’s strength, devotion, and love for his family will never be forgotten. His greatest accomplishments will always be his children and grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness and pride. You will always be loved, cherished, and missed beyond measure. We love you so much, Rob—our Dad, our Grampy, our heart.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill. Words of Remembrance beginning at 12:30 PM.
