HAVERHILL - Richard “Dick” Desjardins entered into the arms of Jesus on August 11, 2023. Dick was born on July 7, 1940 to George and Evalina Desjardins and was brought up in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to anyone who knew him. Dick is survived by his beloved wife Diane of 63 years, brother George “Sunny” Desjardins, son Robert (Bob) Desjardins and his wife Terri of Sandown, NH, daughter Yvonne and her husband Peter Merril of Haverhill; son David Desjardins and his wife Jamie of Haverhill. Dick was “the greatest grandfather” to Nathaniel, Sandy, Hannah, Nicole, Holly; great grandfather to Kaselina, Micah, Imani, Adriana, Avery, Americo, nices and Nephews.
Dick met his sweetheart Diane in Newton NH while she was visiting her uncle Raymond “Ray” Ely and became close friends, eventually falling in love and were married August 20, 1960. Together they brought up their children in Haverhill, MA. He worked for Hamel Leather for 9 years before switching to iron work in Boston, MA building bridges and office buildings. He worked as a Dry Waller for 6 years along with his uncle Jim Dube before landing his final job at Kurzweil Computer Products/Scan soft in the position of building maintenance and shipping Receiver for 22 years. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and vacationing at Old Orchard Beach, Maine with his family. He found his greatest pleasure serving in the church. Dick came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Island Bond Baptist Church, Hampstead NH in 1993. For the remaining 30 years he served in Evangelism Outreach, Nursing Home Ministries, Hospice visitation, 6 years of which he served as a Deacon. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Lawrence General Hospital for their quality of care.
