Richard "Richie" Vinci, Jr.

HAVERHILL – Richard “Richie” Vinci, Jr., 73, lifelong Haverhill resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Massachusetts General Hospital, with his wife and daughter by his side.

He was born in Haverhill on May 16, 1948, son of Olive (Riley) and the late Richard Vinci, Sr. Richie was raised in Haverhill and graduate of Haverhill Trade School. He is the cherished husband of Janice (Albanese) Vinci, whom they shared 45 years of loving marriage. They raised their family in Haverhill which included their cherished daughter Robin.

Richie served his country with the U.S. Army Reserves. He was the owner of the Sewing Center in Haverhill for over 41 years until retirement. Longtime communicant of the former St. Rita’s Church and All Saints Parish.

His activities included being a 25 year member of Saggahew Lodge and Past Master, Advisory Board Member of Haverhill Assembly #39, Member of the Knights of Columbus, Parish Council of All Saints, Activities Chair at All Saints Church and member of the Garibaldi Club. He was an avid bowler, golfer and football fan. Richie enjoyed cooking for his family and friends especially during Thanksgiving. The parishioners of All Saints Church will miss his famous Italian cooking.   

Richie’s surviving family members in addition to his wife Janice, daughter Robin include his brother Bob Vinci and significant other Barbara Umansky of Boca Raton, FL; father and mother in-law Robert and Margaret Albanese; sister in-law Judi Albanese and husband Bill Blummel; brother and sister in-law Gary Albanese and wife Laurie; nieces Erikka and Stephanie Vinci; and several close cousins.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 5, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will begin Tuesday in the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, N. Broadway, Haverhill.
