Richard E. Portors

HAVERHILL - Richard E. Portors of Bradford and York, ME, passed away on January 19, 2024, at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport. Richard was born on January 10, 1942 to the late Ralph and Marjorie (Hamel) Portors.

Richard graduated from Haverhill High School in 1959, followed by degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. After school he became a machinist in Lincoln and Haverhill. Later became Service Manager at Ryan Motor Sales in Haverhill and eventually took over the family business on Hale Street called Portors Blacksmith. From there he became Vice President of Royal Limousine until his retirement three years ago. Richard and his wife Carol traveled  to many Caribbean Islands and were residents of Naples and Bonita Springs, FL.

Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol (Seaman) Portors; nieces and nephews, Cindy Trainor of Estero, FL, Raymond Seaman, Jr., of Amesbury, Andrea Occhionero and husband Mark of Plymouth, Pamela McCrillis of Amesbury, Cathy and Husband Levi Stanley of VT and Jill Murphy and husband Ronald of Amesbury; also many great-nieces and nephews; and great great-nieces and nephews; cousin Martha Stewart of MD and Steven Williams; he was predeceased by grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Richard was an avid tennis player at Cedardale in Ward Hill and a very enthusiastic race car driver who traveled through many States and Canada.

He will be missed by his Dearest friends KoJo, John and Robynne Dwyer, Barbara Rowell, Dianne Buccini, Michael and Kathy Ryan, Jeffrey and Victoria Lewis, Cabot and Tracey Smith, Craig and Jeanne Canovitch and Jeanie and Jim Kirkilis.

His wife Carol would like to thank the Hospital Staff at Anna Jacques Hospital for the care and kindness he received.

Private services will be held at a later date with interment in Linwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport and Sacred Heart Church in Bradford.
