"MAY HER MEMORY BE ETERNAL"
HAVERHILL - Fannie passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023 at Webster at Rye. She just celebrated her 100th birthday on March 7. Born in Haverhill, MA, she was the eldest daughter of Charles and Angelina (Alpas) Vlahos.
She was raised and educated in Haverhill and worked at several shoe factories for many years. She retired in 1989, after serving at the Haverhill High School cafeteria for 20 years. After she retired she found joy in helping take care of her grandchildren.
Fannie and her husband, Arthur, were both dedicated members of the Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church. Together they enjoyed weekly gatherings with friends at Heavenly Donuts and Burger King. Living on Main Street for the majority of her life, she enjoyed the frequent visits of family and friends - always having cookies and coffee ready to serve. She always had a smile on her face and enjoyed everyone's company.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Fannie was predeceased by the love of her life, Arthur Guvelis and her son, Theodore Guvelis. She survived by her daughter Eugenia C. and her husband, Louis Mansour of Newington, NH; son Gus A.J. Guvelis and his wife, Cindy of Conway, NH; sister Aspacia Girard of Plaistow, NH; three granddaughters Nicole Cirinna and her husband Aaron of Seabrook, NH, Kristina Coughenour and her husband James of Portsmouth, NH and Stephanie Demand and her husband Randy of Dover, NH; grandson Alexander Guvelis of Conway, NH; four great-grandchildren James, Emilia, Ethan and Lukas Coughenour of Portsmouth, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Webster at Rye nursing home for providing Fannie with care and comfort during the past several years.
