Paul Leo Murphy Sr., 91 was born on April 23, 1934 in Boston MA to his loving parents James Murphy and Helen Krieger Murphy and died peacefully with family on May 17, 2025.
Paul was a beloved husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, cherished friend and loving uncle. Survived by his adoring wife of 66 years, Rosaleen (Nora); his children Catherine, Paul Jr, Patricia, Christian & Edward; his grandchildren Caitlin, Sean, Megan, Isaiah, John, Aidan, Maeve & Summer; and sadly predeceased by his son Bryan.
Paul was a graduate of Boston Trade High School as painter & worked at Boston University for over 45 years with various jobs in between in Massachusetts & Florida.
Paul honored & cherished Rosaleen. He demonstrated everyday how much he loved her. In good times & bad. They had 68 wonderful years together.
Paul’s life was a testament to the power of family and faith. He was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, whose warmth and unwavering support enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to be a part of his world. His love for his family and his active participation in the church were foundations of Paul’s life, reflecting his endless compassion.
As a father he always found time to be with his kids whether it be playing marbles or catch, teaching them how to skate or swim and forever teaching us how to be kind.
Paul had an incredible sense of humor from an early age and up the very end. He lived thru many challenges but never lost his humor. He had a beautiful smile. He was silly & used humor to make others feel more comfortable, often at his own expense.
Paul loved the Red Sox & the Bruins. In sun & storms he gravitated to the ocean. Whether it be contemplating life, searching for sea glass or throwing his kids into the sea.
On a quiet Sunday or after a long day at work you could often find Paul napping with a loyal dog in his lap.
Paul worked very hard his whole life, when necessary two or more jobs, but he did it for his family. Paul would do anything for his family and in turn he was everything to his wife & children.
He was always puttering around the house fixing things or getting lost for hours working in the basement, often on secret projects to give to his wife & children. He was spiritual, serene, generous, hard working and a trusted friend.
Paul lived with dignity and deep faith. He exemplified the meaning of compassion and kindness to those he loved but he also reached out to help strangers in need, never looking for recognition or reward.
While grief fills our hearts, we find solace in remembering the beautiful life Paul lived and the enduring impact he had on so many. He will be forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
