C. Miguel Guadalupe Gomez, born in Canóvanas, Puerto Rico in September 1939, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Miguel was the eldest child of Brigido Guadalupe and Juana Gomez, and from an early age he took his role seriously—protective, loyal, and always watching over his brothers and sisters: Blanca Roldan, Abigail Santiago, Belen Guadalupe, Saul Guadalupe, and the late Hector E. Guadalupe, Carmen L. Guadalupe, and Rosa Tirado.
Miguel was predeceased by his beloved wife Carmen Santiago, the love of his life. He missed her every day and spoke of her often, always with warmth and devotion in his heart.
He is survived by his children: Carlos J. Guadalupe, Migdalia Joubert, Karen Guadalupe, Eliot Guadalupe, Elizabeth Maisonet Guadalupe, Raymond Velez, and Rafael Rodriguez. Also leaves behind many grandchildren who adored him including Jose S. Joubert, Victor Joubert, Carlos M. Guadalupe, Jessica Guadalupe, Migdalia Guadalupe, Karen Guadalupe, Joshua Guadalupe, Iliana Guadalupe, Jasmine Ence, Jennifer M., Jenny, Omar Perez, Miguel A. Guadalupe, Jyovani Joubert, Luis O. Maisonet Jr., Brandon L. Maisonet, Rafael Rodriguez Jr., Michelle Velez and Raymond. Elen, Jr. He was blessed with 22 great-grandchildren as well, and is reunited in heaven with his great-granddaughter Marissa Y. Guadalupe.
Miguel lived a life marked by service, strength, and deep family love. At just 17 years old, he proudly joined the United States military and served in Korea, an honor he carried with immense pride throughout his life. After his service, he worked for many years at The Pierre Hotel in Manhattan, New York. Upon retirement, he moved to Haverhill to be closer to his children, embracing every moment with them.
Miguel was a man full of energy, humor, and heart. He was known for his endless stories, quick jokes, and the way he stirred laughter everywhere he went. A former Golden Gloves boxer in Puerto Rico, he never lost a fight and carried that same resilient spirit throughout his life.
He loved the ocean deeply—swimming, boating, and enjoying the freedom of the water. He proudly owned a boat named Karen, after his daughter, and found joy every time he was out on the waves.
Above all else, Miguel was a family man. He delighted in teasing, joking, and “instigating” with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the life of every gathering, a man whose presence lit up a room and whose love bound his family together.
Miguel leaves a legacy of courage, laughter, and unwavering devotion. His stories, his humor, and his love will live on in all who knew him.
