BRADFORD - Mary Therese “Sis” (Mahoney) Venezia, 93, a lifetime resident of Bradford, passed peacefully on Friday afternoon, June 10, 2022 at Hannah Duston Healthcare.
Mary was born March 14, 1929 to David and Mary C. (Hoar) Mahoney. She graduated from Haverhill High School.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Angelo A. “Ketcho” Venezia. They raised their family in Bradford.
Mary had many careers. During her high school summers in the late 1940’s, Mary worked at the Casino gift shop in Hampton Beach, NH. After high school Mary worked in the office at Hamel Leather in Haverhill. After marriage, Mary worked with the entire Venezia family at all of Angelo’s restaurants. The second half of her career life, during the mid-1970’s Mary worked at Haverhill High School, first in the Cafeteria, Snack Bar and “Meals on Wheels”, later in administration with the offices of the Unit Director. Mary loved working with the students and teachers. She retired in 1992.
As a kid, Mary spent many childhood summers with her aunts and uncles in Holyoke, MA, a place she loved. Hampton Beach was also a favorite childhood hangout where her parents had a cottage on Cutler Ave. In her adult life Mary loved traveling with her husband Angelo. Her favorite spot was Ireland, her ancestral home. They were fortunate to make three trips there. She also enjoyed traveling to the western USA, especially Arizona to visit her grandkids, the slot machines in Las Vegas, and Hawaii for Mai Tai’s.
The Venezia family would like to thank the staff of Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, Mary’s home for the final three months of her life.
