Mary Early Obituary

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mary Margaret Early on May 25, 2023. She was a devoted mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, a cherished sister, and a dear friend. She passed away peacefully at Spartanburg Regional Hospital in Spartanburg, SC, after a brief stay. Mary had been surviving and thriving with stage IV metastatic cancer for six and a half years.

Born on May 5, 1945, in Haverhill, MA and was a long-term resident of Bradford, MA. Mary was a remarkable woman whose presence brought light and joy to everyone around her. Mary was known for her love, friendship, and great courage as she faced the many challenges of life with immense faith and strength. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

As a mother, Mary was the epitome of love and devotion. Her unwavering support, guidance, and unconditional love shaped the life of her daughter, Becky (Temple) Berube, her son in-law Tim Berube, her grandchildren Elizabeth (Berube) and Brian Van Doren, son Wesley Van Doren, Madison Berube, and Cole Berube. Mary lived with and was cared for by her devoted nephew, Daniel M. Foynes Jr., and his partner, Sandy Maloney, and their families Kellie and Brendon Rigby, daughter Emerson, Jessica and Tom Holt, son Grant, Haylie and Marcus Smith, daughters Sophia, Rylie, and Avery, Daniel M. Foynes III, Jasmine Maloney, son Maverick, and Jack Maloney.

Mary was the daughter of the late Peter A. Early and Lorraine (Cipolla) (Early) McClennan. Cherished sister to Richard P. Early Sr., his wife Aida Early, Peter A. Early, III and his wife Pamela (Brown) Early, sister in-laws Dorothy (Karekos) Early and Doris (Temple) Nelson; brother in-laws Neil Casey and the late Carl O. Nelson. She was predeceased by her sisters Carol (Early) Wilson and Kathy (Early) Casey, her very best friend. She was beloved by her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She is also remembered by her extended family members and numerous friends who were fortunate enough to have shared in her life.

Mary loved spending time with her family and her friends, especially playing bocce and volunteering at the Methuen Sons of Italy, Lodge 902. When in Massachusetts, she could be found most days playing league bocce, setting up or signing people up for a tournament, party, event, or even waitressing. Having graduated from Haverhill High School in 1964 and having worked at Columbia Auto Seat Covers (ASC) in Lawrence, MA, and later Western Electric (AT&T) in North Andover, MA, Mary continued to bring her lifelong and new friends together socially at the Sons. When in South Carolina with her daughter’s family, Mary spent her days working with and caring for the team at their family-owned business, United Catalyst Corporation, and bopping around with her daughter’s in-laws and dear friends, Alan and Elaine Berube. Mary was blessed to live a full and wonderful life.

During this difficult time, we find solace in the memories we shared with Mary and the love she showered upon us. Though her physical presence may no longer be with us, her spirit will forever reside in our hearts, guiding and comforting us through life's journey.
