HAVERHILL – Mary E. Brennan, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Wingate at Haverhill.
Born in Haverhill on May 23, 1943 to the late Francis and Mary (Gray) Brennan. Mary graduated from St. James High School in 1961 and later went on to Regis College where she graduated in 1966. She worked as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for many years. After retiring as a social worker, she became a substitute teacher in the schools in Haverhill and Andover. She loved working with children and she had a special place in her heart for children with special needs.
Mary and her family were longtime parishioners at St. James Church in Haverhill. She had many interests including following local politics, checking out her holdings in the stock market daily and poking around antique shops looking for unusual pieces of history to furnish her home. She enjoyed her trips along the seacoast and her annual reunions in July at the Cape with her Regis friends.
She leaves many cousins including her very special cousin Patricia (Pat) Regan of Topsham, ME; dear friend and caregiver Mary-Margaret Burke of Hampstead, NH; and Mary’s devoted companion of many years Joseph Ford of No. Andover.
Mary’s family and friends would like to express their deep appreciation for the wonderful care she received from the staff of Wingate at Haverhill during these last few years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S.
