Margaret (Peggy) Ann (Furey) Manning

ATKINSON, NH - Margaret Ann (Furey) Manning, 87, of Atkinson, NH (formerly of Methuen, MA) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, surrounded by the love of her family.

Margaret (Peggy) was born in Lowell, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Sheehan) Furey and was a graduate of Lowell High School. Peggy worked in the Methuen School system as a Teacher Aide, while maintaining her main focus as a dedicated, caring mother to her six children. 
 
Peggy and her late husband and love of her life, Dave, shared 64 years of marriage filled with family, love and their adventures traveling around the world. Peggy’s first priority was always family. And her family adored her. She always had an ear to lend to share in the good times, and arms to hug to make the bad times more bearable. She loved turning out dinners for her family of almost 30 whether at the annual family reunion in Humarock, Thanksgiving or her favorite holiday, Christmas Eve. Her grandchildren loved her detailed stories, her youthful personality, and her amazing, fluffy white hair, earning her the endearing title of “The Q-Tip.”

Peggy is celebrated and survived by her children Colleen Sheehan of Methuen, Karen Sapienza of Methuen, Mary Beth Smith of Lowell, Gail Leonardo and her husband Tony of West Roxbury, David W. Manning, III and his wife Kellee of Hooksett, NH, son in-law Patrick Cooney of Andover, her grandchildren Jennifer, Sean, Ashley, Brandon, Lauren, Shannon, Corey, Christopher, Ryan, Erin and Jake and great-granddaughters Sienna, Madison, Emma and Mackenzie. Along with her husband Dave, Peggy was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Cooney and son’s in-law Joseph Sapienza, Brian Sheehan and Steven Smith.

Due to State restrictions and Covid protocols, a private-family only Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 30, at 11:00 AM.
