She then joined the New England Telephone Company as a service representative, based in Newburyport, where she subsequently held several key management positions across the organization. After a thirty-three year career, she retired as an Area Representative for Verizon.
Betty was an avid reader who loved a sunny day at the beach with a great book. She was an avid skier and was a founding member of the Penguin Ski Club in Bartlett, NH. She proudly owned a lifetime ski pass to Attitash Mountain, where you could find her skiing from 10 am to 2 pm - when the sun was out. She was also an avid sailor who sailed from island to island across the Caribbean for several years with her husband and their friends. For many years Betty enjoyed her golf membership at the Eagle Mountain House Course in Jackson, NH. Betty loved to entertain and tell stories. Her homes - including the big red deck at Salisbury Beach - were a frequent gathering place for family and friends, where Betty made all feel welcome and comfortable.
