GROVELAND - M. Lorraine “Lori” Crook, of Groveland, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, at the age of 96. Lori was born in Norwood, MA, to Walter and Doris Wagner. She graduated from Rockland High School in 1945 and from the New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) School of Nursing in 1948. She was very proud to care for patients as a NEBH registered nurse.
Lori, known to family and friends as “Nane”, was a true life force. She loved to travel, hike, and ski. Nane cherished sharing these adventures with her friends and family. She reveled in her role as mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. All that knew her loved her. Her positive energy, smile, and love of life made a lasting impression on close friends and brief acquaintances alike.
Lori was a partner in Think Fitness and loved exercise as a pastime and way of life. Nane taught Baby Swim at Cedardale, and could be heard encouraging her friends of all ages at Peases Point to ‘kick, kick, kick’ while swimming in the ocean. Peases was especially close to her heart, as she spent the summers there with family and close friends. She loved walking the dirt roads, swimming in the ocean, and celebrating the end of a busy day at the “5 O’clocks” social hour on the beach. Hey Hey Hey!
Lori was preceded in death by her sons, Stephan and David, her brother, Howard Wagner, and her former husband, Douglas V. Crook. She is survived by her son, Thomas Crook; her daughter Deborah Crook and son-in-law Turk Montepare; grandchildren, Douglas and Alana Crook, Jonathan and Jacqueline Crook, Spencer and Laurie Crook, Monte Montepare and Jillian Szafranski, Jeffrey Montepare and Elija Valdez; eight great grandchildren: Olivia, Sophia, Stella, Jaxson, Adaline, Saoirse, Noah, and Rocky; numerous nieces and nephews of the Crook and Wagner family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 3:30 to 6:00 PM. Words of Remembrance will begin at 5:00 PM.
