Krish B. Patel

METHUEN - Krish B. Patel, 72, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

Krish was born on June 6, 1951, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, to Bhikhabhai N. and Shantaben B. Patel. The youngest of 3 children, Krish very quickly learned that his quick wit and sense of humor would help him stand out. At a young age, he worked with his father at the local clothing market where his family owned a shop. This experience shaped his incredible ability to form connections with people.

In 1980, he jumped at the opportunity to move to the US to build a better life for his family, leaving all he knew behind. In his early years in the US, Krish worked to put himself through school while getting his second bachelor’s degree in accounting. With his entrepreneurial spirit, he spent the next few years as owner/operator of the Red Barn, a convenient store in Methuen. Here, he served any-and-all in the community with a smile. Krish showed his tenacity and work ethic, working 7 days a week to run the store for nearly 4 years. He spent the next 30+ years working hard at various companies, retiring from Southwick Clothing (Brooks Brothers).

After retiring, he focused his energy on Meena, his beloved wife of 50 years. He learned new skills to support her in everyway he could – from cooking, to cleaning, to day to day management of her health needs. Committed to showing her the love and support she had shown him over the years, he was dedicated to her in ways that many could not imagine. 

One of Krish’s life motto’s was ‘Work while you work, play while you play’ and he embodied that in so many ways. No matter how hard life got, he never showed it. Despite hard days, he was always quick with a smile and a laugh to comfort others. He lit up any room he was in.

He will be dearly missed by the many people he touched. He is survived by his wife, Meena, his son Chirag of Andover with daughter-in-law Anu and his son Parag of Chicago with daughter-in-law Rina. Finally, his 4 grandchildren, Isha, Jayan, Rajan, and Kira were the joy of his life. They will miss their ‘Dada’ and the happiness he brought to them every chance he could. He took care of them just as he did for so many others – picking up every phone call, making them laugh, constantly bringing them treats and showing his love in so many ways.

Agni Sanskar Service will be held on Thursday, February 22, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. Cremation ceremony will follow at Linwood Crematory, 41 John Ward Avenue, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Teach for India www.tfius.org/donate or Blind People’s Association www.bpaindia.org/, two organizations that were close to his heart given their focus on serving those in need.
