HAVERHILL - Julia (Judy) Driscoll of Haverhill, MA was born in Cambridge MA on February 26, 1946 passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by family, she was 77.
Julia resided in Cambridge for many decades. She worked at the YMCA in Cambridge until her retirement in 2000. Julia moved to Haverhill after her retirement and resided with her daughter’s family, Julia was proud to call Haverhill her home. Julia worked at the Bradford Elementary School as a lunch aid. Julia loved working with the children of the school and that love was returned by the students and staff when upon the day she retired in 2019 the students of the school paraded by Julia’s home in their parents cars waving good bye to Julia returning the love to her that she had for each of them.
Julia loved baseball watching her Red Sox every day, after many decades of frustration she was able to enjoy watching her team win 4 World Series Championships. Her love of baseball went beyond just the Red Sox she spent many years coaching the game to the children of East Cambridge. Julia’s dedication was recognized by having an annual game named the Julia Driscoll All Girls Game in which her granddaughters had been participants. Later in her life she enjoyed going to the baseball parks in Haverhill where she would cheer on here Grandchildren and later her Great Grandchildren play the game she loved.
Julia is survived by her daughter Michelle Walker and her husband Edward Walker of Haverhill, Sean Driscoll and his wife Soraya of Haverhill, and predeceased by her son James Driscoll Jr, by her grandchildren Shyla Heredia and her husband Angel, Kayla McGrath, James Walker, Kyle Walker, Theresa Iafolla, Alyissa Blair, Marianna Driscoll and Sean Driscoll Jr., by her great grandchildren Angel Heredia Jr., Aaliyah Heredia, Adalina Heredia, Ace Heredia, Adriana Sanchez, Julius Sanchez, and Mila Quezada, aunt to Jennifer Brache, by her sister Barbara Swallow of Haverhill, brother Thomas Wood of Medford and others.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 20, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Services will begin Monday in the funeral home at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
