John ‘Ted’ Leppala

WINDHAM, NH - John Theodore Leppala “Ted”, 78, died December 7, 2023 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a brief illness. 

Born in Finland, grew up in Dorothy New Jersey, and he resided in Windham NH for the last 20 plus years. He served as the mayor for his lake side community for a majority of those years. He was a veteran and served in the Army. In his younger years he enjoyed photography, camping, hiking, and cooking. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He was a friend to all he met and could engage anyone in conversation and friendship. He had a vast pool of knowledge and experience to draw from.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Trisha Baker Danville NH, Mavreen Fleming Yuma AZ, and Shivohn Fleming Lewiston ME, as well as his sisters, Lisa Grande Ammon ID, Helen Chonka Saint George UT, Sally Leppala Blanchard OK, and Iris Megson Gatlinburg TN, and his grandchildren, Callie, Ella, Seth, Mara, and Liliann, as well as many nieces and nephews. He has been in the thought’s of Marie Leppala “Terry”, Diane, and Eddy. He is predeceased by his brother Robert Leppala, parents Theodore Leppala and Irja Leppala (Liinamma), and Mary Fleming McClure.
