HAVERHILL - Joan Agnes (Weinberg) Pew, 81, of Haverhill, MA, died peacefully on August 15, 2021, of natural causes at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. Born April 10, 1940, into a Jewish family in Boston, her parents were Harry and Eva (Posner).
Joan was educated in Boston Schools and received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University. She worked at the B.U. Libraries for ten years before leaving work to raise her family. Joan was baptized as a Roman Catholic on April 10, 1961. She was a long-time active member of Sacred Hears Parish in Bradford, MA where she served as a lector and a catechist. Joan was an Oblate of St. Benedict from Mount Saint Benedict Monastery in Erie, PA. Joan is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Gordon; their son, Evan Pew and his wife Brandy, of Haverhill and their blended family of six children, Lucas, Alexander, Elijah, Gabriella, Keith, and Jacob; their daughter Sarah Lafontaine of Haverhill and her two daughters Sophia and Isabella; her niece Hilary Jepsky of Stoughton, MA; her nephew Rick Nashe of Las Vegas, NV; and many loving friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 21, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 11:30 AM. Private family interment will be in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill.
