HAVERHILL - Jeremiah Andrew Welch, 23, of Haverhill, MA passed away on Thursday August 8, 2024. Jeremiah grew up in Haverhill, where he attended Whittier Tech.
He loved his Scottish Terrier, Charlie, quite dearly and took pride in caring for him. He also enjoyed spending time with his father, Ned, of Tewksbury, MA, who was undoubtedly his safe space in this world. Together they would fish, go for walks, research guitars and instruments, and discuss topics ranging from TV shows to history and philosophy.
Jeremiah additionally loved seeing his older sister, Sophie, who he looked up to and confided in. They shared a love of music and spent much of their time together discussing artists or begging one another to listen to their most recent discoveries. They even shared a favorite band, The Strokes.
Wisely, Jeremiah knew that the simple things in life were the most important. He was happiest when spending time with his close friends, taking walks in nature, and practicing his many instruments. He spent countless hours teaching himself guitar and piano, and many days you could find him tucked away composing songs and mixing beats on his laptop. While he listened
to a wide range of music, he always came back to The Strokes, and more specifically, Julian Casablancas. He loved the album “Phrazes for the Young.”
Jeremiah was incredibly humble and intelligent. He spoke passionately against everyday injustice and believed, truly, that everyone deserved grace and understanding. He was funny, with a quick wit and dry sense of humor, but above all, Jeremiah was kind to everyone he encountered. He cared deeply about the people around him and prioritized making everyone in his life feel safe and valued.
Jeremiah will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him, but especially so by his girlfriend, Maya Looker of Newburyport, MA and his best friend, Griffen Rogers of Haverhill, MA.
Jeremiah is survived by his sister, Sophie Welch and her partner Derek Langlois of Haverhill, MA, his father, Edward Welch of Tewksbury, MA, his mother Margaret Winnett of Haverhill, MA, and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. For guestbook, visit www.driscollcares.com
