Jean Anne Hyland McAuliffe, 89, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away on December 31, 2024.
Jean was born February 28, 1935 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Albert E. and Anna J. (Beaudry) Hyland. She graduated from Haverhill (MA) High School as a charter member of the school’s National Honor Society. She received her degree from Fisher Junior College in Boston and was awarded the Silver Key.
Jean worked as a secretary for General Electric prior to her marriage and subsequent move to New Hampshire. She raised her children, Lynne, William and Douglas in Manchester, NH. During this time, she worked in secretarial positions at a medical office and the Derryfield School.
Jean enjoyed dancing, reading and writing. She enjoyed cooking and experimenting with recipes, a love she believed she fostered growing up in her family’s diner, Hec and Joe’s, in Haverhill. She loved flowers and upon moving to Florida, owned a flower shop for a number of years. Through the years, she enjoyed traveling and some of her favorite places were the Maine and New Hampshire coastlines, New Hampshire’s White Mountains and Lakes Region, Bermuda, Germany and Switzerland.
In her later years, she continued to enjoy reading and writing. She was also fond of playing along with her favorite TV game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was an avid viewer of the PGA Golf Tour.
Jean was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her children, Lynne (William) Bilodeau, William McAuliffe and Douglas (Claudia) McAuliffe, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, nieces and nephews.
