James Alexander ‘Sandy’ Gordon of No. Andover, passed away on April 29, 2025.
He was born in Lewiston, ME on January 7, 1937, the son of Gilbert Gordon and Beatrice (Pratt) Gordon. He was raised in Andover, and graduated from Punchard High School in 1955. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for eight years active duty, and retired after thirteen years in the reserves. He spent time in Germany and Turkey, but his favorite duty stations were Greece and Bermuda, which he enjoyed sharing stories about.
James attended Arizona State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering in 1969. He spent the majority of his career as a building construction estimator, with the bulk of that at Thomas O’Connor & Co. He enjoyed lifting weights and running or walking around town later in life. He liked to follow the New England Patriots, current events and the stock market. He always had a quick wit.
He met his beloved future wife Paula (Ryan) Savoie at a dance in 1967 and they would be together for the next fifty-seven years, until she predeceased him in 2024. He is also predeceased by his brother David Gordon, and niece Edith Gordon. He is survived by his niece Carolyn Hayward and husband Keith; nephew Robert Gordon and his wife Kathleen Letellier; cousin Carmen Bonney; brother in-law Richard Ryan and wife Sandra; his sister in-law Gail Lorden and husband Michael; his stepdaughter Laurie Cammarata and son in-law Joe; granddaughter Janessa; two great-grandchildren Giovanni and Aiden, as well as other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
