HAVERHILL - Harry Emery Gouthier, 87, passed away peacefully, on August 31, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Haverhill on June 29,1937. Harry grew up in South Groveland, married to his late wife, Patricia (Bradley) Gouthier for 60 years. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Aircraft Mechanic for 20 plus years. After retiring from the Navy he worked for the City of Haverhill School System for 20 years. Harry was well known by so many for his nickname “Hummer” and his silly riddles.
Harry enjoyed taking trips to the casino, fishing, and taking long rides and reminiscing about his younger years with his kids and grandchildren. Harry also loved spending time with his family and friends at Academy Lanes every Wednesday and Thursday night. Harry also loved and cherished his dog Daisy aka “Pookie.” He will be missed by so many but will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
Harry is survived by his seven loving children Arthur F. Gouthier and wife Anita of Hampton, NH, William J. Gouthier of Hampton, NH, Mark J. Gouthier and wife Christine of Haverhill, Dwayne A. Gouthier and wife Carol of Berlin, NH, George P. Gouthier and wife Laura of Taunton, MA, Patrick J. Gouthier of Burlington, MA and Catherine Boyd and husband Robert of Bradford, MA; siblings Susan Griffin and husband Wayne of Haverhill, Sally Alejos and husband John of Topeka, Kansas, Carol Tracey of Kansas, John Kots and wife Cathy of Atkinson, NH, Sandra Kots of Dover, NH and Ann Hill of Haverhill; twenty grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased family members include his wife Patricia Ann Gouthier, sister Helen Guarino, and brothers James Kots and Raymond Gouthier.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Private services and burial with U.S. Navy Honors for immediate family will take place. For guestbook, visit www.driscollcares.com
