Obituary

HAVERHILL - Gordon James Files, Sr., 79, longtime resident of Haverhill, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

The son of the late Arthur J. and Beatrice R. (Cassidy) Files and husband to the late Carmen Yolanda (Candelaria) Files.

Gordon leaves behind his brother Robert A. Files, Sr. and wife Patricia of Rochester, NH, sisters Mary A. Files of Chester, NH, Jean Carlson and husband Ken of Safety Harbor, FL and Barbara L Cramer of Brandon, FL; his devoted children G. James Garbino (aka Gordon James Files, Jr.) and wife Lucy of Lowell, MA, Albert John Shepherd and husband Ed Arsenault of Springfield, VT, Fernando Duran and wife Alma of Jamaica Plain, MA, Mary Jane Nova and husband Junior of Attleboro, MA and son Martin Santuchi of NY; his loving grandchildren Antonio Garbino, Cassandra Garbino, Alan Shepherd, Jayne-Marie Nova Rivera, John Stephen Nova, Jennifer L. Nova and Giovanni Duran; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Gordon had a very strong work ethic and enjoyed working at Raytheon for 47 years, it was one of his many great passions. He enjoyed being his own handyman and would try to fix anything that was broken. He was someone you could go to for anything, someone you could trust. Traveling with his wife Yolanda was something that he spoke about often as well as the many special memories they had shared together and the love he had for her. He loved playing cribbage and listening to country music as well as enjoying the company of family and friends with peppermint patties and a cup of coffee served in his favorite mugs given to him from his granddaughter and grandson. He loved to laugh and make people laugh.  If you were sad, it would not last long when you were with him. He was an amazing Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Uncle, loved by many.

Gordon kept a lot close to his heart, but above everything, his family meant the world to him.
