Germaine (Proulx) Comeau

GROVELAND - Germaine (Proulx) Comeau, age 92, a lifelong resident of Groveland MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Manchester, NH to the late Eva (Veilleux) and Louis-Phillipe Proulx. She lived in Concord, NH until 1944 when father died, then moved to Manchester, NH.  She graduated from Manchester Central High School class of 1948. Upon graduation she worked at Prudential Insurance.  

In 1957 she married Norman D. Comeau and relocated to Groveland, MA. Germaine worked seasonally for the IRS and then for Carr, Staples and Acardi for 17 years. 

She was a very loving mother to her 4 children; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Always providing a home cooked meal and award-winning homemade pies, cakes, whoopie pies and cookies. She mastered many sewing projects. Germaine enjoyed getting together with family and friends and never turned down a good card game. She enjoyed traveling later in life seeing the Vatican and the Eiffel Tower. She was strongly established in her faith.

Family members include her husband of 66 years, Norman Comeau of Groveland; four children Diane (Tim) Bartos, Donna (Richard) Arcand, Daniel and Denise (Wayne) Gelina; eleven grandchildren, Timothy J Bartos, Christopher Bartos, Lauren Bartos McKissack, Richard Knight, Michael Knight, Gabrielle Arcand, Allison Arcand, Melissa Gelina, Kyle Gelina, Andrew Gelina, Courtney Gelina and seven great-grandchildren; she is predeceased by her siblings Lucille (John) Raczka, Richard (Rita) Proulx, and Lorraine(Armand) Cote.  

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10 in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
