MERRIMAC - Fujiko N. Mears, 92, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, after an extended illness. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Fujiko was born in Tokyo, Japan on September 2, 1931. In 1954 married the late Roger A. Mears, Sr. while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force in Japan.
She was the beloved mother of Roger Mears, Jr. and his companion, Sheri Feke of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Joanne (Mears) Vien of Merrimac. Fujiko is also survived by her five grandchildren, Paul Vien, Jr. and wife Jackie, Nathan Vien, Stephanie Mears, Jennifer Mears, and Jessica Mears and wife Crystal: great-grandchildren Sydney and Logan Vien, Addie and Callie Amodt, Zoe Allen and Dylan and Derek Ranfone Mears. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Fujiko was predeceased by her companion, Wilfred Leveille.
Fujiko loved bingo, cards and all her Boston sports teams. She also enjoyed traveling to meet her brother and sister from Japan in New York and San Francisco and staying with her son in Florida. Fujiko also enjoyed Sunday dinners with her daughter and family.
She worked at Western Electric and retired from Raytheon and enjoyed 25 years of retirement.
