HAVERHILL - Francis R. Manzer passed away on August 26, 2021 surrounded by loved ones at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, after fighting his battle with cancer.
Francis was born in Rumford, Maine to Francis L. and Teresa A. Manzer. He moved to Lawrence at the age of 10 where he later graduated with the class of 1977 at GreaterLawrence Regional Vocational Technical School. In his later years, Francis enjoyed many things from darts to card games. As a family man, he loved all and was loved by many. He was even given a second chance at life when his son, Shawn Thompson, gave him the gift of a transplant which gave him more time to see his family grow. Francis is survived by his five children Shawn Thompson, Jenifer Gil, Melissa Thompson, Denise Manzer, and Julie Ronaghan; wife Linda Blanchard; three sisters Pamela Pace, Marylou Todd and April Manzer; eight loving grandchildren Jazmine, Shawn, Sadie, Serina, Luke, Sophia, Anya and Amelia; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his furry companion, his dog Paco.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 16 in St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen at 11:00 AM. Celebration of Francis's Life will take place on Sunday, September 19 at Fody’s Tavern. Burial will be on Saturday, September 25, in St. John's Cemetery, Rumford, Maine.
