Erna A. (Homfeld) Brandon

ACTON - Erna A. (Homfeld) Brandon of Acton, Massachusetts, passed away May 30, at the age of 90. Born in Queens on May 2, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George Homfeld and Lena (DeBuhr) Homfeld and lived much of her early life on Long Island, New York.

Resident of Acton for 65 years, Erna drove the Acton Council on Aging Road Runner van for nearly 30 years and loved chatting with her passengers. She was a longtime volunteer in Acton Public Schools and scouting, and active in the community.

Erna loved gardening and was dedicated to natural, organic methods in her extensive home plantings. In later years she also tended a plot at the Acton Community Gardens. She was an avid backyard birdwatcher and shared her love of birds and plants with her children and grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years Robert J. Brandon and survived by her children: Robert G. Brandon and his wife Susan of Haverhill, Margaret Brandon of Falmouth, David Brandon of Worcester, Alan Brandon and his wife Lorinda of New Mexico, and Barbara Brandon of Arlington. She is also predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Brandon of Georgia.

Erna was the dear sister of the late George Homfeld, and the proud grandma of Tyrell, Caleb, Jennifer and her partner Dwayne, Ian, Ben and his wife Rachel, Spencer, Duncan, Derek and her great granddaughter Tegan.

There will be a celebration of life gathering in the late Summer.
