Douglas Frizzell Obituary

Douglas Sanford Frizzell, 76, of North Broadway, Haverhill, MA, died unexpectedly Monday morning April 1, of heart failure at Mass General Hospital in Boston.

“Doug” as he was known, was born at Waltham Hospital in Waltham. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1966 and then attended Northeast Aero Tech in Bedford. During high school, he worked summers on Cape Cod, where he and his brother Ron delivered ice to fishing boats and to convenience store boxes along the Cape. Three years after he attended East Coast Aero Tech, he married Diane Nolan at Immanual Methodist Church in Waltham. Together they shared two children, Holly Ann and Crystal Theresa. While he was trained as an airline mechanic, the growing computer industry grabbed his attention, and he went to work for Honeywell’s computer division in Lawrence where he became a supervisor. Later, as Honeywell closed its computer division, Doug started what became a highly successful business, D&G Modular Homes. The G was named for his second wife, Gail, who worked with him in the business. Houses he installed are all over southern New England with nearly 50 on Martha’s Vinyard.

His primary hobbies were music and auto racing. He sang and played guitar and created recording studios at his homes in Haverhill and his second home in Haverhill, NH. He produced and recorded a number of songs which thousands have listened to on YouTube. This was Doug’s happy place along with watching favorite movies on his giant "17-foot" screen with a super surround sound theater system using speakers he made himself! During his D&G Modular years, his company sponsored a super modified racer which raced around the country. He loved attending those races.

His first and second wives have recently passed away. He is survived by his daughter Holly Ann Han and her husband Christopher Han of Titusville, FL and Crystal Theresa Frizzell of Haverhill, MA; six grandchildren Henry Rowell, Lydea Rowell, Desire Smith, Krystof Migdalski, Ayanna Frizzell and Alessandra Frizzell; brother Ron and wife Diane of Auburn, ME and Englewood, FL.
