Donnamarie (Martin) Reid

HAVERHILL - Donnamarie Reid of North Hampton, NH and formerly of Haverhill, MA passed away on July 22, 2023. Donnamarie was born on January 21, 1958 daughter of the late Richard and Grace Martin.

Donnamarie was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1976 and Keystone State College in 1998. Donnamarie wore many hats throughout her life. She worked for IBM for 15 years in administration and human resources and Raytheon as a technician. She dabbled in real estate and spent the last years of her career caring for individuals with traumatic brain injury and disabilities.

She was a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt and a friend to so many. She loved her family and never missed a party. She was an artist, a cook, a talented seamstress and could always be counted on to lighten the mood with a wisecrack or joke. Donnamarie loved the beach and could be found many days enjoying the sun and waves with her family and friends.

Donnamarie was a talented artist. She could draw beautiful portraits as well as painting beautiful landscapes. She introduced her children to various arts and crafts throughout their childhoods. A snake catcher, a second profession of a mother who loved to satisfy her son and his friends by catching garter snakes. Donnamarie wouldn’t hesitate to climb a tree to retrieve her son after seeing him hang there from the picture window.

There is yet to be a heart as gold as hers. She would open her home to a crocodile in need. The croc would have but to ask. Throughout the years Donnamarie opened her home to friends, family and “lost boys” as she referred to them.

Donnamarie was a fighter. She battled cancer, heart issues, and losing a child. To her son, she was indestructible. She was the epitome of courage and perseverance. While battling cancer, Donnamarie obtained her associate degree at Keystone College. With her two children looking on, she was given a standing ovation for her courage in achieving what her classmates had with the added pressure of her personal fight. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her.

Donnamarie is survived by her son Charles A. Reid III and his wife Meghan E. Reid of Haverhill, three grandchildren Lily Amanda, Lily Anne and Jeremy Michael all of Haverhill, siblings Bonnie Martin, Richard Martin, Thomas Martin and his wife Patricia, William Martin, Fredrick Martin and his wife Jennifer, and fun loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Amanda Lee Reid and her brothers John Martin and Robert Martin.
