LOWELL - Donna Mae (Dunham) McCreedy, age 82, received her angel wings on September 27, 2023 in Haverhill.
She was born on May 31, 1941, in the city of Cambridge, MA to John and Mary Dunham. She was formerly married to Herman Clark McCreedy. She would often joke that her birth “started the Second World War.”
Donna was a resident of Lowell for many years and although she “hated math,” she was proud to have not only earned her GED later in life, but also to have taken collegiate level courses at Middlesex Community College in downtown Lowell. She especially loved her studies in music, bravely performing the “Ave Maria” as her final project (she earned an “A”) while simultaneously seething hatred towards the computers in her literature class. She once threatened to “throw the damn thing out the window” while her professor tried to talk her down. She worked various jobs in her younger years, but was especially fond of her years as a solderer. Donna was very generous and had a strong faith. She would often refer to herself as a “prayer warrior” and kept a list of people (family, friends, and newly met people-sometimes perfect strangers) for whom she would offer up her prayers to. An avid Beatles fan, she was fortunate enough to have attended one of their concerts. George was her favorite.
She is survived by her children and their spouses and partners Robert and Lisa McCreedy of Lowell, Deborah Montbleau of Bedford, MA, Michael and Mary Jo McCreedy of Lowell, MA, Michelle McCreedy and Mark Schena of Salem, NH, Laura and Ed Dees of Berkeley, CA and David McCreedy of Haverhill. Donna was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was the sister of the late Richard Dunham of Brewer, ME.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2 in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, a time to reminisce and honor the Life of Donna. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Donna will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
