ANDOVER - Donald Paul Golan, age 87, of Andover, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2022 with his loving wife of 57 years by his side. Donald was born on August 17, 1934 in Lawrence, MA, the son of the late Stanley and Mildred (Schirner) Golan. He was raised and educated in Lawrence, graduating from Lawrence High and then from the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance.
Donald began his career at Pratt & Whitney before joining Polaroid as a Controller and moving to Andover in 1969. After early retirement from Polaroid, Donald began a new chapter as a consultant at Ivy Biomedical, eventually becoming COO before fully retiring and completing his successful finance career.
Donald met Janice at the Lawrencian Ski Club in Bartlett, NH. Donald and Janice built their first home on the Saco River and spent many happy years in Bartlett, skiing with family and friends. After settling in Andover, Donald purchased a beach home in Wells, ME, enjoying summers in Maine and winters in Boynton Beach, FL.
Donald loved to be active and was constantly on the move – his hobbies included golf, tennis, skiing, walking, landscaping and shuffleboard. Donald also loved to share jokes at any social occasion.
Surviving Donald are his beloved wife, Janice (Pierog) Golan, his son David Golan & his wife Jean of Andover, MA, and their children, Alex, Carly and Jake, his son Daniel Golan and his fiancé, Dawn-Lee S. Black of Lawrence, MA and his brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews. His beloved siblings, Kenneth Golan, and Marilyn (Golan) Curley, predeceased Donald.
There are no calling hours or funeral services. A private celebration of life may be held at a later date.
