Donald Cox Obituary

HAVERHILL - Donald Cox passed away surrounded by family on July 5, 2022.

Don was born on June 26, 1940, he was a loving husband, father, Pop and Great Pop. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Cynthia Cox; daughter Toni Cox, grandson Zachary Cox and his wife Sydney, great granddaughter Aurora Cox, brother Kevin Cox and his wife Cheryl, brother David Cox and his wife Kathy, sister Judy and was predeceased by his brother Cliff Cox, brother in-law Stephen Prendergast and his wife Barbara, brother in-law Gary Prendergast, brother in-law Alan Prendergast and his wife Amy, sister in-law Tara and her fiancé Greg, brother in-law Mark Lambert, brother in-law John Prendergast and his wife Sue. Uncle Don also leaves behind nieces and nephews and his best friend, Kona.

Don was a retired Navy (27 years) Command Master Chief and he and his family were able to travel during this time. When he retired, he moved his family back to Massachusetts and he worked for the Peabody Essex Museum. Don and his grandson, Zachary, would go every Sunday to check things out and stop at McDonald’s for breakfast. There were many great memories of the pool on 7 Robb Road. In the summer, Don would love to hang out at the pool with his G&T, waiting for friends and family to stop by, there was always company at the pool. After retiring from the museum, they made the move to Florida where Don got a job at Marriott Vacation. He and Cindy then returned to Massachusetts and were blessed to be able to help raise and watch their grandson grow up. Don became know as Pop to all Zachary’s friends and their families.

Don loved to golf, travel, and do projects around the house. He enjoyed showing everyone his projects and explain what he was doing… whether you were interest or not. More than anything, Don loved his family, home, and friends. He will surely be missed but I know by now he is in heaven because he was an angel on earth and is telling everyone up there about us all. We love you Don, Dad (my Dad), Pop, Great Pop and best friend.
