Diane Marie (Healingbear) Triplett, 71, of Haverhill, passed away early Thursday morning on December 25, 2025, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Her husband was at her side.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Austin Frank and Ann (Libby) Birmingham. She graduated from Peabody High School with the class of 1972.
Diane married David Triplett of Newport, R.I., on September 16, 1995, in Danvers, MA. She worked as a nurse for 30 years, dedicating her career to caring for Alzheimer’s patients in nursing homes.
She loved spending time in her garden, growing tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, and more. Diane was also an animal lover, having shared her life with three bull mastiffs, a maltipoo, and a cat. She enjoyed fixing things around the house—skills she picked up from spending time with her father. She loved the ocean and felt a deep connection to her Native heritage. She often spoke with Lakota women in the Dakotas, supporting them by purchasing jewelry and clothing and sending financial help. And she loved to feed the squirrels and birds that visited our backyard. And she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Music was another joy in her life, and she listened to a wide range of genres, including Native music, Classic rock, Rap, and Rhythm and Blues.
Diane is survived by her husband, David; her sons, Micha Bovio of McKinney, TX, Sam Bovio of McKinney, TX, Daniel Triplett of Seattle, WA, and Jessie Triplett of Haverhill, MA; her grandchildren, Sam and James of McKinney, TX; her sister, Nancy Harrison of Haverhill, MA; four nephews, and five nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Libby; her father, Austin Birmingham; and her sister, Debbie Birmingham.
Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes will be scattered in several meaningful places. A celebration of Life is being planned for Friday, May 29, with the location and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in her honor to Lakota Women Initiative.
