Obituary

SALISBURY - Clarence “Chuck” L. Brien, 76, of Salisbury, MA, passed away peacefully in his sleep, in the presence of family, early Tuesday morning, June 16, 2020.

Clarence was born and raised in Lawrence, MA.  Met his wife in Manchester, NH, where they married and started their family.  They later made their home in Haverhill, MA, where they raised four children, and enjoyed a life rich with family and friends for over 30 years.

Chuck was a graduate of Central Catholic HS and worked as the maintenance supervisor in Lawrence, MA for more than 40 years.  Known by his family as a ‘Jack of all trades,’ he was always working on renovating his house or maintaining his rental properties; most people would find this a chore, but Chuck enjoyed working on every aspect electrical, plumbing, painting…

Chuck touched the lives of everyone he met.  So many people started as friends and became family to him. In his later years, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren; he was always willing to teach them, wrestle with them and attend their various sporting events.

Clarence was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Pauline M. Brien.  In his passing he leaves behind his children, Nicole Therrien of Salisbury, MA, Michelle Clarke and her husband Peter of Newburyport, MA, Paul Brien and his wife Roberta of Paxton, MA and Jocelyne Proia and her husband Marc of Chelmsford, MA; eight cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Therrien, Joseph Proia, Jonathan Proia, Brien Clarke, Aidan Clarke, Quinton Brien, Madelyn Brien and Marcus Proia; siblings Lucette Sullivan, Stephen Brien and wife Claire, and Charlotte Brien; and many adoring nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Stephen and Rita Brien, Clarence was predeceased by his brothers Lawrence “Larry” Brien and Ernest Brien.
