Christopher Charles Lynch, 66, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, died peacefully on September 16, 2025, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. In the final days of his life, he received wonderful care at both Phillips House at Massachusetts General Brigham Hospital in Boston and High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill.
Chris was born on November 22nd, 1958, in Boston, Massachusetts to Jeanne Marie Lynch (née Crowley) and the late Henry William Lynch, the third of five children.
Chris graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA, then went on to Georgetown University, where he received a bachelor’s degree as a double major in French and Linguistics. Growing up, Chris liked to vacation with his family in Maine at Sebago Lake and Old Orchard Beach, where he first learned to water ski. Other family vacations included their cottage at Thomas Pond, boat trips in Saco, and drives along the Kancamagus.
He married Mary Frances Lynch (née Gerlinger) on August 1st, 1987 at St. Ignatius Church at Boston College with whom he built a family and home filled with love, humor, good food, and cherished memories.
Chris’ other love was his ability to cook delicious food and share it with his family, friends, and strangers alike. He worked as a chef all his life in several kitchens, including as Executive Chef at Boston University and most notably at the Cape Cod Irish Village in South Yarmouth, MA, where he eventually became Owner-Operator and Head Chef.
During his time off, he shared his love of skiing with his wife and children at Smugglers Notch Resort in Jeffersonville, VT and was a volunteer ski patroller at Ski Bradford. Chris also worked to give back to his community and his family, including as a substitute teacher at Haverhill High School, a youth soccer coach, and a front-row seat holder at his kids’ sporting events, theater productions, and band gigs. He was a Master Mason of the Saggahew Masonic Lodge in Haverhill for many years, where he joyfully cooked for his brothers at many functions.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary of Bradford; his mother, Jeanne of Pembroke; his brother Stephen Lynch and wife Karen of Scituate; his sister Jane Renzi of Portugal; his sister Anne Lynch-Ambrose of Dalton, NH; and his sister Maura Lynch and husband Clyde Ford of Bradford; his four children and their spouses, Alana Lynton and husband Logan of Walton, KY; Tara Fleckner and husband, Colby of Westford; Conner Lynch and wife Monica of Revere; and Briana Lynch and husband Matthew Green of Schenectady, NY. He was also known as “Pop” to his two granddaughters, Ella and Sophie. Chris will also be missed by his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, neighbors, and longtime friends.
