Charles Chernov, 82, passed away on June 12, in Haverhill, born on December 9, 1942, in Roxbury.
Charles led a life marked by dedication, humor, and compassion. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong work ethic, working in his father's garage repairing cars and pumping gas before putting himself through both undergraduate and graduate studies at Bentley University. His commitment to education laid the foundation for a meaningful career in nonprofit accounting. As an Accounting Specialist and CFO, he contributed his expertise to organizations such as Beth Israel, Children’s Floating Hosp., Amigo, Heart Rhythm and the Battered Women's Shelter.
He was known for his gentle soul and sharp intellect. Fierce reader with a great sense of humor, he found joy in solving the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzles and making young children laugh. He cherished time spent with family and enjoyed relaxing games of pool. Man of quiet faith, Charles attended Temple Emmanuel throughout his life. His legacy is one of kindness, perseverance, and service to others.
