HAMPSTEAD, NH - Brian John Cashins, 55, resident of Hampstead, NH, died peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital on October 4, 2024 after a brief illness.
Born in Melrose on September 3, 1969, he was the son of Martha (Balestrieri) Cashins of Newburyport, MA and the late John J. Cashins. Brian was a graduate of Minuteman High School in Lexington, MA where he studied HVAC and was a member of the school’s football team and swim team.
In addition to being survived by his mother, Martha, he is also survived by his sister Julie Urwick and her husband Scott of East Kingston, NH and his nieces and nephews Laurel, Rebecca, Heather, John and Zach and was great uncle to Isabel. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Brian enjoyed family and friends growing up in Medford and Wakefield, MA and of all the times he spent with his aunts, uncles and cousins at his grandmother’s cottage on the Powwow River in East Kingston, NH. He had a love of life, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, having fun and seeking adventure. He had a great sense of humor and a mischievous nature. Anyone who ever met Brian could call him a friend and he was always willing to help when needed.
He was very proud that he followed his father, Jack, into the sheet metal trade and of his experience and skill as a sheet metal mechanic. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 and employed at Tremont HVAC. Brian was also skilled at several other trades including HVAC and plumbing.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Words of Remembrance will begin at 6:30 PM.
