It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara A. (Hadley) Sciacca, 80, on May 7, 2025.
Barbara was born on July 3, 1944 in Haverhill, MA, to her parents Rose (Scovotti) Hadley and Arthur Hadley. In her early years she attended Lowell State Teachers College and continued her education at Fitchburg College earning her masters in higher education.
She spent her entire life in service to others. She dedicated over 55 years to shaping young minds as a beloved teacher in the Haverhill public school system and devoted her time as a Eucharistic Minister at the former Saint George’s church in Haverhill.
Barbara found great joy in reading and helping her grandchildren with their homework. Above all, she cherished spending time with her beloved family and friends. Her greatest gift in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchild, who brought her endless pride and happiness. Barbara was known for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and Great Nana, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Torry Sciacca; her son, Torry Sciacca, II, and his wife, Leanne; her brother Michael Hadley, and his wife Janice; her three cherished grandchildren: Devin, Valerie and her husband Zack, and Heather and her husband Jeff. She is also survived by her great grandchild, Ava; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Services will begin Thursday in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill.
