GEORGETOWN – Allan W. Hamm, 88, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
He was born on February 23, 1933 in Prospect, ME, son of Karl and Nellie (Clowes) Hamm. Allan was raised in Belfast, ME and graduated from Crosby High School in 1952, then went on to Lowell Tech and completing in 1958. He is a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. Allan worked as an Applications Engineer for many years, also he owned a Western Auto Store, American Speedy Printing and Graphics Inc. Computer Company. He lived in Reading, MA for many years where he raised his family.
Allan was a devoted and loving father who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. His activities included camping, dirt bike riding, enduro and motocross racing, attending many horse shows where he was deemed everyone’s “Show Dad,” also he was an avid hunter and fisherman and was skilled a tinkerer with all things building and thinking of ways to make them better. He was a member for many years of the Masonic Lodge. Allan was a great man who will be greatly missed.
Survived by his children Tracey Ann Lavender and husband Brian of Plaistow, NH and Todd Allan Hamm and wife Wendy of Leominster; siblings Carlton Hamm and wife Lyn of Chester, NH; and many beloved nieces and nephews; brother of the late Frances McLeod and husband of the late Ann Dorner Hamm.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 18 in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 12:00 to 3:00 PM. Funeral services with U.S. Army Honors will follow.
