HAVERHILL - William P. Boland, Jr., 83, of Bradford, passed away peacefully, January 7, 2012. He was the son of the late William P. and Mary (Linnehan) Boland. Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy; a graduate of St. James High School class of 1947, attended St. Michael's College, graduated from Saint Anselm College and received a Masters of Education from Fitchburg State College.

He was a Supervisor of Vocational Education with the Massachusetts Department of Education; employed by Haverhill Trade School and Whittier Regional Vocational High School as a teacher, coach and administrator. Bill was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford, MA, ran the Sacred Hearts gym, was a member of the Holy Name Society, and coached football at Haverhill High School. Bill was a co-founder of the Bradford Pool, a member of the BoSox Club, Jackson Club and the Crowell Beach Association, West Yarmouth, MA.

His surviving family members include his wife of sixty years, Mary A. (Slattery) Boland, formerly of Lowell; children and grandchildren Kathleen, Mark and Kristine St Jean, Monica, Christopher, Julie and Dan Kelley, Courtney and Michael Munroe, William, Fran, Maria, Rachel and John Boland, Joseph, Susan, Joseph, Caroline and Lindsey Boland, Ellen, Bruce, Jacqueline, Elise and Gwendolyn Powers. Julie, Mark, Mary and Brian Haley, Mary, Robert and Shannon Kaiser; siblings, Mary Cahill, John Boland, Ann Messer.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 11 in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. Calling Hours will be held Tuesday, January 10 in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Bradford from 3:00-7:00 PM.
