Obituary

William Eric Hartung, 57, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 23, 2026.

Born in Haverhill on December 31, 1968, Eric spent most of his life in Massachusetts while making frequent trips to Florida to visit family. He found his greatest peace in nature and never passed a patch of wildflowers without stopping to pick a few. A gifted woodworker and lifelong tinkerer, he had a remarkable ability to build, repair, and create almost anything. Eric was also a devoted motorcycle enthusiast with a special love for Harley-Davidsons.

Eric is survived by his children, Ashlie, Aidan, and Kaelin Hartung of Maine; his mother, Nancy Brady of New Mexico; his sisters, Lori Hartung and Lynette Stebbins of Florida, and Teisha Cate of New Hampshire; his brothers, Jal Hartung of Colorado, and Nathan and David Hartung of New Hampshire. He also leaves behind a large extended family throughout Massachusetts and Florida, including many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless loved ones who will cherish his memory.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the East Parish Meeting House, 150 Middle Road, Haverhill, Massachusetts.

In honor of Eric, guests are invited to stop and pick a few wildflowers on their way to the service. It was one of life’s simple joys that brought him happiness, and a fitting way to celebrate the spirit of a man who always found beauty in the natural world.
