(Bill) Macleod

HAVERHILL - W.F. (Bill) MacLeod, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at his home in San Diego, California. Mr. MacLeod was born in Haverhill on June 13, 1924, the son of late William F. and Margaret T. (Linnehan) MacLeod. An alumnus of Butler University, he was employed by the Bell System for 31 years, with service in the Michigan Bell Telephone Company, and at ATT headquarters in NY, from which he retired as a Division Manager in 1985.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an Infantry officer from 1943 until 1947, and also during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. Surviving family members include his loving wife of 59 years, Mary L. (Sawyer) MacLeod; two sons, Paul MacLeod of Billings, Montana and Andrew MacLeod of Sparta, Michigan; three daughters, Mrs. Mark (Catherine) Kocher, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Margaret MacLeod, of Lakeside, California and Elizabeth MacLeod, of Bene Vagienna, Italy; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister in-law and brother in-law, Virginia and Atillio Carbone of Bradford; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held, Saturday morning February 2, beginning in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Bradford at 9:00 AM. Requiem Mass will be held in St. James Church, 185 Winter Street, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill. Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 1 in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street (Rte. 125), Bradford, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Courtesy local transportation to the visitation will be provided on request by calling Patrick Driscoll at 978-374-0000.
