HAVERHILL: Walter W. Wightman, 79, passed peacefully on August 12, 2024, following a fierce battle with cancer. Walter was the husband of Nazira (Yezzell) Wightman to whom he was married for 56 years.

Born and educated in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Edna M. (Gleason) Wightman.

Hardworking and strong, Walter took his gift of creation and self-taught engineering and put it into fixing anything and everything. He managed a small roofing and siding business from which he retired more than a decade ago only to become a man of even more trades at his home where he lived with his wife of 56+ years.

Besides his wife, Walter, the only son in a family of four sisters, is survived by his daughter; Heather; son-in-law David Kraus; granddaughter Sofiah; their puppy love JJ; sister, Jeannine Ravigala, and many nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly. Walter is preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Economou, Audrey Wightman and Linda Ingalls.

Service under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill, MA will be conducted on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11:00am.
